As in all sexual contact there is a risk.
Any fool will know that having sex unprotected can not only run the risk of a woman getting pregnant but also there are many sexual transmitted diseases as well. Here are a few of them:
- Chlamydia: Not all that uncommon these days. Affects both women and men genitals usually symptoms includes discharge liquid and pain when passing water but not everyone has any symptoms. Easily cured through medication.
- Gonorrhoea: Similar to chlamydia as it has almost the same symptoms as chlamydia. The discharge you get as a result of gonorrhoea maybe different colour though.
- HIV and AIDS: This disease starts off as aids and then develops into HIV and it is a killer. It is spreading fast in different parts of the world and is uncurable. Symptoms may not develop in 4 months, they may include rapid weight loss, lack of energy and many more.
There are many drugs which can prelong your life but nevertheless it is uncurable.
- Syphilis: Many people think that this disease died out in the 19th century but it is still with us. Syphilis has a 3 stages and can take 10 years to develop:
- After 2 weeks Syphilis can develop. Painless Sores may start to develop around the genitals.
- If left untreated, in 3 to 6 weeks a non-itchy rash will appear covering the whole body plus other symptoms such as swollen glads etc.
- If still left untreated, in 10 years time Syphilis can damage your brain and other parts of your body.
This disease can be cured easily through anti biotics.
- Thrush: Very common is both women and men. Thrush can be sexually transmitted but other means are more common such a tight clothing, ant biotics etc. Normally symptoms include itchyness round the genitals and discharge in both sex's.
Thrush can easily be cured through cream obtained from your local pharmacist.
- Crabs: Known also as public lice, crabs affect the hair around the genitals in both women and men. During sexual intercourse, the crabs can 'crawl' onto the partner's hair.
Crabs can easily be treated using special shampoo or lotion.
- Genital Warts: The most common Sexually Transmitted Disease. Symptoms are usually easily identified as painless warts surrounding the genitals.
Treatment is simple, using the means of freezing them off with special equipment.
- Genital Herpes: When you contract the herpes virus there is no cure. It can be caught through sexual intercourse and kissing. Symptoms may include: red blisters around the penis, pain when passing urine, flu like symptoms and/or itching/discomfort around the genitals.
This infection is not curable, but tablets can help ease the effects.
- AND MANY MORE.....
The best weapon against all STI's are condoms which you can get free from your local family planning/gu clinic but dont be fooled they only help reduce the chances of infection not make you immune to it. Best advice is be carefult, talk to your partner(s) about their own sexual experiences and how many partners they have had. Make up your own mind from there but all it takes is someones first sexual encounter to catch a disease.
